Communicate Properly and Effectively
Communication skills, including writing, is one of the most important transferable skills that an employee can have. Effective communication serves to convey ideas and concepts. The attached paper shows my ability to communicate effectively through writing. In my FIN333 class (Equity) I participated in a group project. I was required to write a report as a buy-side equity analyst, preparing a report for a portfolio manager of Western Refining (WRN).
This project displays my ability to research valuable information pertaining to a company and accurately portray that information in writing. I received positive feedback from my professor. I believe my writing abilities provides a detailed overview of the current financial markets, and most importantly allows the reader to conduct a fair analysis of the company. Furthermore, effective communication skills in a potential employer is invaluable in that it ensures the employer that its mission and intentions will be effectively portrayed to stakeholders.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
During my first year as Resource Manager at the Dental office I discovered that when patient’s received their billing statements at times my handwriting was not legible. In order to solve the issue immediately I introduced excel software to the dental practice. With my knowledge and understanding of spreadsheets I created new billing statements for patients. In fact, I received positive feedback about the new billing statements. Patients commented that their billing statements were not just easy to understand, but it gave them the confidence that that they could make clear decisions regarding their financial matters. The owner of the practice was elated that I was able to bring about positive change to her practice.
Through a simple mistake, I came across a great opportunity to not only apply my business knowledge but to also challenge my creativity. This opportunity has taught me that in any organization there is always room for improvement. I created a process that not only improved customer satisfaction, but served to decrease workplace stress and provide an efficient system of record keeping. The right amount of creativity, initiative and dedication can improve productivity.

Work Effectively Toward Achieving Common Goals within Diverse Teams
Teamwork is a skill I have learned to master and use in almost every aspect of my life. In September of this year, my friends and I decided to contribute $50.00 each to feed the homeless in Washington D.C. We purchased chips, water, fruits and made sandwiches. Through hard work and dedication we spent almost 4 hours making sandwiches and distributing the snacks and drinks. We managed to feed about 150 homeless people as well as visit The Unity Healthcare shelter in Washington, D.C. to distribute bag lunches.
This service showed me that I can achieve my goals of helping people. I learned the importance of teamwork and giving back. I have the ability to make a difference in communities and plan effectively to help those who are less fortunate.

Technology
In September 2017, I began my internship at Manna Inc; a non-profit organization that advocates and develops affordable Housing in Washington D.C. Working in the accounting department allowed me to learn more about the non-profit industry, real estate development and property management. I was able to apply my basic accounting knowledge while using Yardi Voyager software. Being able to use Yardi helped me improve the accuracy of record keeping and increased processing of bank reconciliations with greater speed than manual processing. My ability to learn Yardi in a short period of time shows that I am a quick learner and I have the ability to use technology in a professional setting.
